The original Every Creature Counts shelter in Fort Lupton, Colorado had closed its doors permanently in 2017. Sam and Lisa Booker, the founders of Every Creature Counts, sadly passed away. Here’s the story.
We’ve collated this list of animal rescue organizations in the Fort Lupton area as great alternative clinics that offer low-cost spay and neuter services for your pets:
Soul Dog Rescue
Soul Dog Rescue offers services such as spay, neuter, vaccinations, microchipping, hernia repair, sterilization for feral cats, and treatment for cryptorchid male pets. Desexing services for dogs range from $80 to $120 depending on the animal’s weight. Cats’ spay and neuter services cost $45, discounted for feral cats you bring into the clinic.
Soul Dog Rescue is located at the same address as the old Every Creature Counts shelter – 1245 Factory Circle, Fort Lupton, CO. They’re open from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm but check their website for updated hours as it may change. Call them at 303-857-6789 to book an appointment.
Dumb Friends League
If you don’t mind the drive to Denver, there’ another rescue organization there that offers low-cost spay/neuter services for CATS (no dogs at this time per their website). Dumb Friends League is located at 191 Yuma Street, Denver, Colorado.

Planned Pethood International
Cats spay and neuter services only cost $30-$40 in this clinic. Dog neuter/spay cost between $60-$90 depending on your dog’s size. FOr heavier dogs, add $10 for every ten pounds above 69 lbs. This is because heavier dogs need more anesthesia.

MaxFund Wellness Center
This clinic is affiliated with the MaxFund Animal Adoption Center, a no-kill shelter and adoption/rescue group in Galapago Street, Denver. The clinic is located at 1000 Inca Street, Denver, Colorado and they offer affordable pet care services including spaying, neutering, and basic surgery. For dogs, a neuter may run you up to $110 and a spay is $130. This price includes pain meds, the surgery itself, nail trim, and collar.

Humane Society of Weld County
This no-kill shelter is located only 25 minutes away from the original Every Creature Counts location and offers low-cost spay/neutral services for feral cats. Only $30 per cat; each cat’s left ear will be tipped to signify desexed status. If you live in Evans, Colorado, and can show proof of residency, spay/neuter services are free for feral and barn cats.
