Cats must arrive in separate traps. Individual carriers, with clean bedding, must be provided for cats to recuperate in following surgery. We recommend that cats are kept in a protected area following surgery, to allow for post-surgical monitoring. The area should be clean, warm, and dry and isolated from other animals. Check on the cat periodically, to ensure that recovery is progressing. If you see any signs of bleeding, difficulty breathing, or excessive vomitting, please contact us immediately. We recommend that males are monitored for 24 hours following surgery and females are monitored for 36 to 48 hours following surgery. Offer water, dry food and a fish-based canned food the morning following surgery to entice appetite. Appetite should return to normal within 24 hours following surgery. Again, it is extremely important that ferals are not released until the recommended period of post-surgical monitoring has passed. We know that every feral cat is different, so please contact us with any questions regarding recovery.
